Why do small companies get strong-armed into big governance?

The Lazy-Layman Governance Approach

by The Lazy Anarchist.
Why do small companies get strong-armed into big governance?

Survival, credibility, desperation, are some words that come to mind. From the start-up company to the Small-to-Medium Businesses (SMBs), to very large global corporations, we see governance requirements piling on.

Like the guy at the bottom of the pyramid with a big basket of stones on his head climbing up the ramps. As he goes further up, there's the gravy soakers dropping peels into the basket.

Is there an end in sight? The dirty answer is, no.

As the world progresses into apparent greatness, we seem to have new found depths of affinity to threaten that. The threats to such progress ironically lend ourselves a need to protect ourselves, from ourselves, even more every day.

These protections, like the mafia, have a cost. The rise in threat, means a rise in the requirement for protection. The rise in the requirements for protection, means the greater the need for control. Of course we cannot trust ourselves in this crazy world of high-speed progress we live in, and so there needs to be more control and regulation from the higher beings that can bare such burdens on behalf of our minds that have simply become exhausted basket heads.

The plethora of regulation, directives, laws, "best-practices" and information authorities are only becoming more top heavy and mind-boggling.

I came across some interesting, almost common sense, but novel approaches being explored in this regard, last year and have been reading up a bit on it since then. It also seems that the voices of the masses have been making it up through the cracks and some of the government and industry authorities have started to make attempts to help the situation.

What is the situation, what am I rambling on about?

Yes, the small business that must suddenly follow all financial reporting procedures and be ABC compliant with an independent XYZ Officer to report to the 123 Regulator or else fines and imprisonment might be on the cards.

We are certainly concerned about our rights but at what point do we lose sight of what compliance means and how to keep up with it?

Thankfully, us lazy people are quite innovative when it comes to hard work. I have found a few seminal pieces of doctoral level work that explored these very questions and more so proposed solutions that can be extensible to all size organsations while capitalising on resourceful resources.

Together with C-xO, the right engagements were made and we have come up with a model that addresses this problem. The Lazy Anarchist strikes again, and in collaboration with C-xO.com's research and development division, we are in the processing phase of a new set of service offerings coming soon...
